Is there a free software to make video clips?

Question by fielame: Is there a free software to make video clips?
I love movies and there is always a part that I would like to just take out, just a couple of seconds.
I would love to find a freeware that can allow me to record a clip and posted on my blog and facebook.

Any ideas?

The simplest software is Windows Movie Maker… Thing is, it doesn’t support some video formats…
