Japan: Radioactive levels high around nuclear plant
(Updated 10:50 a.m.) Japan’s prime minister urged residents within 30 km of the earthquake-hit Fukushima nuclear power plant to remain indoors because increased radioactive levels were detected in the area after a blast in the facility early Tuesday. Meanwhile, the French Embassy in Tokyo, 240 km south of the plant, warned a low level of radioactive wind could reach the capital within 10 hours.
