Mac video effect for adding cop lights onto a vehicle with no lights, how can I edit it to look like cops lite?
Question by joshgibson07@ymail.com: Mac video effect for adding cop lights onto a vehicle with no lights, how can I edit it to look like cops lite?
I’m gonna be making a comedy cop film and I have a black truck and we’re gonna get my friends to help us make a bust. I wanna drive the truck down a road and edit the video by adding cop lights on top of the car, how would I do that? I have a mac and that is what I would prefer to work on this projects editing with. I have windows movie maker as well so I could use that. What is a good reasonably priced software to do this with? Any experience with these type of editings?
imovie doesn’t seem to have any add-on effects for movies.

weeeeellll….
You would probably need Final Cut Pro to do some of the basic compositing.
You could create a light bar and such with Blender, which is free. Then you could 3D composite that in with Shake, which is $ 100…The light effects themselves could be simulated with Motion, and then put into Final Cut.
However, the thing with emergency lights is that they throw light EVERYWHERE. They light up walls, faces, etc. Even in daylight. THAT effect, to be believable, is going to be very tough to achieve in editing, though I won’t say impossible.
I would say that for something like that, you might just see if you can get a lightbar, or talk to your local PD or Sheriff to see if they would help out.
