Making a movie?

Question by Christine: Making a movie?
I want to make a movie with some of my friends; not a stupid movie but a nicely edited, well acted movie with a thought-out script. I’ve always loved movie making but I’m wondering– how can I edit my movies well? If I take clips on my camera it says the file type is not compatible with windows movie maker. But I’ll probably tape the movie with a video camera– is that possible to get on the computer to edit? Or do I need to t\ake digital movies? And how can I edit my movies– is there some kind of program? And I don’t mean edit as in cut this scene, add music here- I mean special effects. Any answers will help!! 🙂

What kind of format does your camera create?

Windows Movie Maker produces .wmv however it can import other formats like .avi and .mpg.

I’m guessing that you should be able to import your clips that way. One way to extend the number of formats that Movie Maker will import is to download a set of codecs (like from http://www.cccp-project.net/).
