Movie editing software?

Question by Manchelli: Movie editing software?
I am making a film to send into various film festivals and need it to look professional, badly. What editing software should I use? I need it to be inexpensive, and I don’t need special effects like blood, or anything computer generated, but my main concern is making proper titles, exellent sound, keeping picture/video quality the same, and having proper end credits (when they roll, just like in any other film). Windows Movie Maker seems just too cheap/generic for my professional needs. Please help, thanks!
