Movie Gore, Lighting, Techniques?
Question by Timothy H: Movie Gore, Lighting, Techniques?
We are filming an amateur movie, not our first. We have a cabin in the woods rented out in a rural mountainous area.
What are some good tips for making fake blood, Zombie Makeup, gore (Body parts), and other horror techniques like
Flesh Eating
Decapitations
deaths
Any ideas would be great.
Also, whats a good way to light something outside when its dark out?
Would dry ice mist be a good effect? Does that look silly on camera?
Any tips at all would be great…I know its a lot to do in one weekend but just put out helpful tips.

…a long while back, I acquired a rare video tape, called “Splatter: Architects of Fear”, which was a feature length documentary that showed the behind-the-scenes making of a fictional apocalyptic-Amazon-woman-mutant-zombie movie (…fictional, as in it was never actually released); it contained a treasure trove of information, regarding virtually all matter of special effects, pyrotechnics and make-up effects, and it’s done in a very creative and humorous way. I remember that the film was just chuck full of great information, as far as behind-the-scenes movie making…
…recently, I found out that the film was released on DVD (…I’m actually waiting for it to arrive, even as we speak, right now!!); I’m willing to bet that answers to many of your questions, would definitely be found here. Check it out!!!
