Musicians@Google: Eric Lewis
Jazz pianist Eric Lewis visits Google’s Mountain View, CA headquarters for a guest performance. This event took place on June 5, 2009, as part of the Musicians@Google series. Virtuoso jazz pianist Eric Lewis is making waves in the music world with his blisteringly brilliant renditions of pop songs interpreted through the hands of a musical genius. Featured at the April 2009 TED talk, he took the crowd by storm and quickly built a following among leaders in the tech industry. His popularity as a solo artist is quickly gathering speed as word spreads virally of the madman who transforms everyday music into spectacular works of art culminating in a recent private performance for President Barack Obama. This is not your ordinary Jazz Concert, and the works he’ll perform are just as enjoyable by the layman as they are by the most discerning of jazz lovers. His covers include works by Coldplay, Evanescence, Nirvana, among others. Eric cut his teeth playing with the likes of legend Wynton Marsalis, and was the proud recipient of the 1999 Thelonious Monk International Piano Competition, a competition held only once every 6-8 years.
