Q&A: Are sex, drinking, and smoking as common in 15/16 year olds as movies and books make it seem?
Question by Bobby: Are sex, drinking, and smoking as common in 15/16 year olds as movies and books make it seem?
I’m 15 and in so many movies and books they have parts where all these 15 or 16 year olds are either smokin something, partying with alcohol, and fricking doing it with another person. They make it seem like 99% of this age group is doing at least one of these but nobody’s finding out. I would never do any of these and i feel like such a loser haha. So what is up with that, is all that the truth?

I was drinking and smoking weed when I was 15-16 years old, but I wasn’t having sex. I know when I was that age it totally depended on who I hung out with. I had my “wild child” friends who did drugs, got drunk, partied, etc. and those were the people I did those things with. Then on the other hand I had my “good kid” friends who didn’t smoke or drink, didn’t party, didn’t have sex. It just depends on who you hang out with. You shouldn’t feel like a loser for not being into those things, I think it’s great that you have enough respect for yourself that you don’t engage in those activities. The more you respect yourself, the more other people will respect you.
