Question by Suzanne: Can I transform my Sony Hi8 into a good documentary camera?
I think I bought it in 2002(ish). I am interested in making a documentary. Could you help me create a list of things I should buy? I am looking to put this together inexpensively for my non-profit, but want the footage to be decent incase I use it for TV or a movie. A few things I know I am looking for now are software for a PC, a microphone, tripod, inexpensive lighting cures, types of tapes and the cord I need to use for charging the batteries I have. (someone lost mine).
I haven’t used my camera a whole lot so any info is helpful. I do know I definitely have to use the Hi8 tapes.

I have one. You CAN use it for that but transferring the data is a longer mess and more expensive that getting a newer CAM.
