you can try DVDFlick, it is freeware , can convert some movies files to video DVD, but have error on my computer, you can try it by yourself, maybe ok on your computer, I don’t know other good freeware, so I am using an inexpensive software RZ DVD Creator, it can convert any movies files to standard video DVD and burn to any DVD disc(DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD-RW, DVD+RW, DVD-R DL, DVD+R DL, etc), such as avi to dvd ,etc ,and your burned dvd can play well on regular dvd player. You can yahoo or google search RZ DVD Creator and download it, inexpensive, hope these info can help you!
