Question by rkawesch: How do I make VHS tapes digital?
I would like to know how to make digital files from my VHS cassettes. I have a VCR, a computer with USB (1.1 ports), and Windows movie maker, an 80GB external harddrive, and a DVD R/RW drive. Also, I’d like to do this as cheap as possible. Making nice DVDs would be nice, but not 100% necessary.

You need some kind of video capture device. There are really cheap ones that connect to the RCA cables of your VCR and into your computer through USB. You capture in the film raw and then edit it with your Windows Movie Maker product.
