Q&A: How do I make Windows Movie Maker stop freezing during the publishing process?
Question by fdchilds16: How do I make Windows Movie Maker stop freezing during the publishing process?
I’m using the version of Windows Movie Maker that comes with Vista. I’ve just created a nice video, but when trying to publish it to my computer, it keeps freezing once it reaches 88%. The time left will generally be around 30 seconds left when it freezes. After moments, the seconds will start to increase to 35, 40, etc. and I just give up and close the program.
Has anyone else had a similar problem with this program, and if so, how did you get it to actually finish publishing the movie?
Thanks!

This might be a long shot but you should first be sure you had no other programs open or running while you are publishing your movie.
Then turn aero off. To do this right click on an open area of your desktop and select Personalize. Select Windows Vista Basic then hit Apply and OK. This will allow more resources toward publishing your movie as Windows Aero uses a lot of your computers resources.
Also under Personalize turn off your screen saver because it runs in the background when it’s on. Also turn off your sidebar.
I am assuming you have plenty of disk space. See if it helps and let us know.
EDIT- If you are still having problems it might be copyright protection on music you are using. If removing the audio allows it to be published then copyright protection is likely your problem.
