You can’t! So you learn your trade making movies for other people. If you demonstrate competence, they will give you more and more responsibility, and eventually, you will be trusted to make your own.

You can, of course, play around making home movies, but selling the ones you make is a different matter. Still, you can pass them around, and if people like them, you can graduate to showing them to civic clubs or other organizations looking for weekly programs for their members.
