When Oprah is serious she actually makes good black movies. Beloved and The Color Purple or even the Hughes brothers, Dead Presidents and The book of Eli (out now) Denzel Washington with the great debaters. I mean black people can make superb powerful movies, we are past the coonnery and tomfoolery. What would you like to see on the big screen?
My idea would be like a small independent film about a black skateboarder, that is trying to win a competition, but his father thinks he should spend all his free time studying for college, and hes ruining his life by trying to catch quick fame, and at the end of the movie he goes to college, but then a flashforward, of him opening up a big skate park in his hometown. This is basic, but you get the idea.
