like buying a camera, microphone, lighting, creating your own website to feature the movie own?
making an independent film, is it easier than ever now with new technology like iMac?
I hate hollywood, and am not trying to get rich, the film doesn’t have to be in every major theater.

Yes, yes, it is way easier. Think about what you can work with now: you can rent a fairly cheap digital camera (as opposed to a 35 or 16mm camera which cost a fortune) which is easy to use and easy to move around. Of course, to really get the film quality, the camera is still expensive, but regardless, it is still easier to come by. Also, editing is loads easier than it was… most computers come with a editing program on them, and even the expensive programs are fairly easy to use. Like you said, you can now get your movie known over the internet (which you obviously couldn’t before). Composing your own music is easier too, looking for actors and crew (craiglist anyone), being able to move your smaller camera to more diverse locations, etc.
So yeah, if you want to make a film go do it!
