I have comcast internet and its very fast. I have also paused the movie at the beginning then wait but it takes along time. Am I better off downloading the movie with a proxy?

It really depends on the host site where you are watching the movie, i normally pause it and let it buffer fully, just do something else while buffering is completed. You can try using http://zenetworks.co.uk i normally use that site, they have some fast hosts there 🙂
