I love poetry and I would like to enter it into a contest. I don’t know where to look to enter my work. I’m 12 and live in the NYC area. No prize needed, I just want people to see what I have to say, but I also want the pride of winning. Here’s on of my poems about my name:
Lilly,
pure innocent.
Derived from the flower.
Flower,
delicate, awing.
small
The stereotypical lady,
the person no lady wants to be.
Does that Lilly exist?
The one who doesn’t try,
the person who sits at her bridge club.
Perched in her leather chair,
ankles crossed.
Waiting for her pompous husband.
But what does he care?
Who does he truly love?
No one.
He loves no one,
She will devote,
he will take.
She’s happy,
Loves her life,
Just like her mother did.
She’s enslaved, she’s controlled.
Lilly,
energetic, independent.
Derived from her ancestors,
The fancy happy people.
Describe her as uncommon,
The different being
Her soul striving for change,
As her heart
No one knows her,
She lives in her head.
You thinking you do as much as you know you can breathe.
She loves music
She loves the colors black, and red
She makes art
She makes movies
So who are you to say that a definition of a word brands me?
When do you think that this is what I am?
Who do you think of,
when I recite my name.
when I speak the words of my mind,
When I make myself who I am.
You do not confine me to a shallow character
of innocence and presently graceful
Does it matter?
Does my name matter?
What does it make me?
I am not Lilly Rebecca Ehrlich.
I am who I think I am,
Which is an I infinite number of ideas.
A soul contained by a small body
I am not Lilly,
I am not one,
but the mosaic of all.
Who is my life,
The ones who were there,
is me
To be none,
is fake,
but to be all,
is the sincere authority of life.

umm well I just wanna say ur supposed to be 13yrs or older to be asking questions or answering on yahooanswers and sorry bout that comment and i dont live in nyc so i dont no sorry
