Q&A: Question about writing a script?
Question by dispirited_princess: Question about writing a script?
I have a few questions about writing a script. They are:
1. If I turn a short story into a script and sell it, can I still publish the short story?
2. My friend is in film school and has a friend that buys scripts, a short script for about $ 500.00. He said creative talent is hard to find in NS, and his friend looks for fresh talent regularly. Does this price seem about right?
3. If a character is supposed to look a certain way, or talk a certain way, is it alright to put this in the script, or is it up to the director’?
Thanks, if you can answer any of these I really appreciate it!

1. If you sell the script (or anything for that matter, cars, a house, a toaster) then its not yours anymore.
2. If you get paid $ 500 for anything you write, consider yourself extremely lucky.
3. When you write a script, yes, its alright and most of the time very helpful to put together a small paragraph of how the character looks, acts, talks, whatever. It will help woth story development, but yeah, the director can change things about. example … Twilight. Pretty good book series, but one of the worst movies ive ever seen in my life.
