We are planning a secular ceremony, neither lengthy nor elaborate. We do not want specific references to religion or God. Suggestions of additional readings to quote during the ceremony would be helpful. We have children (ages 7 and 14), and we will have a role for them in the ceremony.

As far as readings go, perhaps you and your intended (maybe even the the kids) could spend some family time reading some poetry together and choosing something you all like? Whatever your personal style, there is sure to be a poem which fits. Try searching “wedding poetry” or “wedding poems.” Everything is up for grabs, from ee cummings (a bit quirky) to Shakespeare’s sonnets (very classic).
