Q&A: What do I need to connect my camcorder or vcr to my pc to use windows movie maker?
Question by davidgherron: What do I need to connect my camcorder or vcr to my pc to use windows movie maker?
I have never used any video editing software and was going to start by trying to use windows movie maker. I don’t know how to connect the vcr to the pc. Is there a standard usb to av wire connection cable that I need for windows to recognize my vcr or camcorder. It is an analog camcorder. Is it better to buy different software that comes with the physical connection hardware? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I’m interested in transferring analog video from vcr/camcorder to dvd and also editing (making highlights from transferred video).

I can’t suggest anything according to my OWN personal experience….BUT
A fellow technician used Windows Moviemaker and attempted to edit….he could do that, however he could NOT convert his movies to STORE on a DVD….so it was totally worthless in his situation….he wanted to burn a DVD so he could play it anywhere, anytime on anybody’s DVD player….
That sucked because he could only play it in Windows Moviemaker!!
