Q&A: What is the name of this movie?

Question by Pepe (mixed breed): What is the name of this movie?
I know, everybody asks that. Years (and years) ago I saw a movie in 3rd grade (1989-1990). I used to think it was Diary of Anne Frank, but it isn’t. It’s in B/W, and the only thing I remember for certain is that in the beginning, during the opening credits, the camera pans around an attic(?) that is full of old things, and I’m pretty sure I remember carosel horses in the attic. Whenever I think about the movie, it makes me think of Anne Frank, so maybe it is similar in plot? It drives me nuts, HELP, pLeaSE!!

“The Hiding Place”? I remember watching that in school as well and it sounds like the movie you are describing.
