Q&A: What’s a FREE video program for Windows that’s like Windows Movie Maker, but doesn’t crash as often?
Question by Soccer Lover: What’s a FREE video program for Windows that’s like Windows Movie Maker, but doesn’t crash as often?
I’m trying to find a decent, free, movie making program for windows. I don’t like Windows Movie Maker, mainly since it crashes constantly and it makes my computer really slow. Please don’t suggest these programs:
-VidCrop
-Movavi Video Suite
I’d like it if you could just drag and drop pictures/videos into it instead of having to select every single picture/video separately, since that takes to long.
Thanks ahead of time!
Oh, and I’d like it if you could add titles and credits.

Im not for sure if there is another one that would replace windows movie maker for windows. I am somewhat knowledgeable when it comes to converting video files.
Windows movie maker is actually a pretty solid program. I don’t know why it would crash alot, I never have problems with mine. Try making sure that you are absolutly not running any other programs while running movie maker. Video editing takes up massive amounts of memory, even top of the line computers will still run slow while editing and converting video files.
I wouldn’t even suggest trying it if you have under 512MB of RAM. 128MB of RAM may be able to do the job but it would be an extremly long and painstaking process.
If you absolutly must find another program like movie maker go to www.afterdawn.com. they have tons of software for video, picture and music editing, converting and burning. They have guides to use the software along with forums that are extremly helpful.
If you use the forums please do a search to make sure your topic has not already been answered they are extremly particular about that. But most people there are extremly helpful when it comes to that kind of stuff.
If you do find a program but afterdawn says it is no longer available. do a search on google to find it. they have had to recently remove some programs that were being used to infringe copyrighted material.
