The new series is supposed to start up sometime next year (2012) though there has been no information of when next year. Knowing Handler/Snicket, I’m sure he’ll start some cryptic countdown on his website once we get closer, so keep an eye on that. You can of course, also sign up for his author tracker if you want to keep a closer eye on him. But there is no set release date just yet, just a general time frame of “somewhere in 2012”.

As for the movie, that’s also up in the air. They’ve been bandying about talk for a sequel for years now, with no real plans made. Basically everybody is saying they’re interested in doing it with no actual plans made. If the studio sat down with Handler tomorrow and made a decision one way or another, it would probably take at least two more years to write the script, get the cast together, and do the actual production, so even assuming they make a decision anytime soon, it will be quite awhile before a sequel movie actually is out. And, like I said, they aren’t really working towards making a decision at the moment. So if a sequel is ever made, its going to be a bit of a wait still.
