Q&A: Why does it cost so much money to make a video game?
Question by explorer: Why does it cost so much money to make a video game?
Why does it cost so much money to make a video game? I was just reading that Half-Life 2 cost $ 40 million to make! I can’t understand why it would cost that much money! I can understand why a movie would cost so much money because of the need for props and paid actors, but video games? What do they spend all that money on?

all the designers (with a degree they charge a fuck load 0.o) all the tech that they use to code and make the game, everything they use to bring it all together (i know some use photoshop to make some pictures n stuff, and programs like photopshop that are used to make games can sometimes cost over 1 grand 0.o) uum testers, name brand, publishing, copies, lol yea
