Q&A: Why were the last 3 books combined in the second SOTTP movie?
Question by Katie: Why were the last 3 books combined in the second SOTTP movie?
ok, I just saw the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2 movie..and I was upset because the last 3 books seemed to be combined into one movie. Does anyone know why? I’m guessing because one of the girls didn’t want to do anymore movies, but it makes me sad!

I understand what you mean.
Typically, when the first movie is made based upon a series of books, they create the film based only on the first book so as to be able to develop the great detail into each relationship and background to help the audience understand what the premise of the film is. First movies in a series are typically character-driven.
The second or other films in the series sometimes will then combine two or more of the stories/books together to and focus on the various situations and circumstance that the characters experience, making the subsequent films plot-driven.
