i know some of you will be like ‘bah, only 5 ? ‘
but know this, I edited my question from ‘ Question to EPL regulars – your all favourite top 3 movies of all time ? to Question to EPL regulars – your all favourite top 5 movies of all time ?
so have fun, but do think carefuly which 5 movies have given you the most enjoyment/thrills/laughs/ other emotions evoked…anything that still remains etched into your minds till this day, hence 5 movies which u may simply consider cinematic masterpieces OR simply, 5 movies you just love(d).
here are mine.
1. The People Under The Stairs (1991) – a movie that is one of its kind. I think if u like goonies, you’ll love this. An estranged couple, brother and sister keep children locked up in the basement…all the naughty ones having some part of their body removed, depending if they spoke too much, heard too much, saw too much etc. One little girl is kept barricaded inside that house…and a little kid, named fool befriends her when hes made to go in and participate with some adults in doing a burglary…that goes horribly wrong.
Keep a look out for the cool rottweiler (Prince) in this movie XD : ))
2. New Jack City (1991) ….I don’t know. And I don’t care. But they simply, do not – and cannot make movies like this one in this day and age. One of the best movies of the early 90s, for me – it screams out ‘nyc drugs/gangs/violence of the late 80s early 90s’ era. With teh backdrop being NY of course, you cant go wrong with this movie. You can’t beat movies like this, you just can’t ^_^
3. Kids (1995) – one of the most underrated movies of all time, also one of them movies that contains those controversial ‘rape’ scenes which end up being subject matters on internet movie forum/message boards. Loved the movie for its setting in NYC, in the projects, and how young teens get themselves into all kinds of sh1t. A kid who goes round taking the virginity of as many girls as possible, ends up making one pregnant – and shes on a quest to go out and stop him from ruining the next girls life, but the race is on. harrowing account of what some ‘kids’ got up to back in the day, and still get up to today.
4. No Country For Old Men (2007)- The title threw me off a bit , prior to watching it – but then as i watched it , it begin to make more and more sense. One of the most ‘disturbing’ looking and scary movie characters ever portrayed on the screen, a character who will get beneath your skin. literaly. Anton Chigurh. www.imdb.com it , and do watch this one if u have not already. A movie that I’ll never forget about. ever.
5. The Mist (2007) – bunch of town folk get barricaded inside a shopping center (think your whole town, well most of it – locked inside Asda whilst outside a GIGANTIC weird mist, looms – and within it, terrifying grotesque monsters and what have you : )) , you really cant make this one up folks – but seriously, a movie that I promise will ENGRAVE itself into your hearts/minds/souls ^_^
