Scam ! Final promo
When I bought the Canon Eos 550D I knew I had to make a short film. Balu Sharma and me spent hours and hours in Chai cafes, parks and coffee shops to pen down an interesting 120 page commercial script. It had 14 characters, intense fast paced events a million plot points and we finally churned up something, which we thought would be a Telugu version of Guy Ritchie’s Snatch if no one wanted to add an item song or a Female “protagonist” who does nothing but sing songs with Hero babu whenever the script gets boring. Now, the boys and I wanted to make a short film on a similar subject to test the capabilities of the Canon 550 and to sell the Script we had. Scam is not much of a story. It’s just a funny event and it could only happen in India. Even though the story was simple, It was a pain to shoot the last scenes where people and chaos was required. Our hero Tejus suggested this guy named Nagesh Bannel for cinematography. He is one brilliant man. The camera is his source of energy. The moment he holds the camera he runs, he jumps from on building to the other, he fastens himself like a gorrilapod to any fast moving object, he could even order around Obama. He was one big asset to the gang and then one Mr.Ranjith Kumar and Mr.Tejus Kancherla got him drunk. End of story. Next day, IMPORTANT SHOOT DAY, Nagesh was being dragged out of his room by Upendra Varma and Ranjith towards the car. I looked at his face to check if he was still breathing and he says ” Tharun, sorry Tharun …
