Should artists, writers, or musicians be censored if what they create is too offensive?
Question by SCC: Should artists, writers, or musicians be censored if what they create is too offensive?
Inspired by the article about WalMart refusing to sell Green Day’s new album. One of the reasons cited by WalMart is the language content. In return, Green Day is crying foul about censorship.
However when you think about the artists who write scripts, produce songs, produce films, or create art, should they be allowed total control over what they create, or should there be certain standards placed over them, especially if their medium will be watched or listened to by minors or younger children? Especially when the parent is not there to control the TV or radio (due to working)?
