Should I build my platform with a web series or go for the gusto w/ an indie film/movie?
Question by notapp: Should I build my platform with a web series or go for the gusto w/ an indie film/movie?
I realize my passion/interest lies in making movies / telling stories. I want to know if I should go for the gusto and try to raise money to make my first independent feature or if I should build a platform first (build upan audience) with a web series *standard 22 min. shows* first…
What’s the best way to go?

Don’t worry about building an audience; no matter what you produce for the web, there are no guarantees. But you do need to start working.
Making movies — whether with film, video or a cell phone — takes practice. Some writer once said, “You’re not really a writer until you write a story a day.” In other words, you have to get into your zone.
So, if your indy movie project is important for you to get right, make a bunch of videos for the web first. If your indy movie is one of dozens of ideas in your computer, and you don’t want to mess with the short form, go ahead and make your first movie. These days, you don’t need a lot of money to get started.
Good luck.
