i first saw it when it came out in theaters two years ago. but last night i watched it again.

is it possible that he was really sane the entire time? that he really WAS a federal marshal that went to the island to do investigations on a missing person and had a crooked partner that was a part of the plan to never let teddy daniels leave the island? im suggesting that everything that happened was straight forward.

he was a marshal that went on the island and they took him as a threat to uncover their nazi experiments at the asylum. they purposely gave him a crooked “detective”. i think they convinced him that he was crazy just so teddy wouldn’t be able to uncover their experiments and expose them.

i dont think they would make the movie that easy to understand. that he made up a character but in reality he was a crazy person. i think the creator of the movie wants you to think deeper about it.

how come in the end they show “dr sheehan” (mark ruffalo) giving him another cigarette on the steps outside? i think it’s because they are continuing to medicate teddy so he gives into their plan of making him feel crazy.

i think there were experiments going on in the lighthouse and that is why they take him there in the end. but if leonardo dicaprio still thinks he is a federal marshall why does he let them take him to the lighthouse in the end. he just gets up and goes with them?

He is crazy the whole time. In the end he remembers that he murdered his whole family. That is why he is at the lighthouse. For more accurate information go to IMDb.com
