Charlietravels’s travel blog entry: “Ok so I don’t normally leave it this long between blogs and I was going to do it before anything really happened today so it didn’t seem as bad but a bloggers worst nightmare happened to me this morning… the sun came out! To a blogger there is nothing worse because now he has no excuse for staying indoors and typing on his computer! Anyway let’s take it back to where we left off. It was a Sunday I believe. It was around this time that it actually stopped snowing and ever since it has been slowly disappearing from the footpaths and streets. The river Spree is beginning to flow faster, and the chunks of ice in it are getting thinner and smaller. Not so good news for the snow men though. Being a Sunday in Berlin not much was open in terms of food. I shudder to think how much money I could have saved if the hostel that I am staying at (Citystay) had a kitchen! On my way to my first scheduled event I decided to go to Burger King where the myth of German efficiency was shattered! It took me over 15 minutes to get in and out with a take away meal. In Australia it would be closer to 5 and I would have got a smile from the staff too! Fortunately not everyone in Berlin looks as depressed and as that sorry lot.
