i was wondering..u know the boom mike that occasionally makes its appearance in low budget movies or movies with poor editing…why is it that the mike appears furry??…like its wearing a furry coat?…is it to dampen sound waves??….just asking and thanks….

its to muffle the wind, and other outside noises. it’s mostly used for outside shots.
