What are the chances of a movie studio buying and distributing an independent film?

Question by Amine A: What are the chances of a movie studio buying and distributing an independent film?
I’m filming my first movie in two years right now im still working on preparations. My thinking is if i make it a good movie with a movie quality it will be a good deal from the studios point of view.

Which studios should i go for?

and how do i prepare myself to sell the film to them

and if that does not work what are my other options? My main goal is to get the movie out there in theaters to further my acting directing and writing career.

If you can get your movie into a film festival, and it gets a good buzz, there’s a better chance for it to get picked up and distributed by a major studio. My Big Fat Greek Wedding was an independent. sex, lies, and videotape won at Cannes and was an independent.

Sorry, I can’t help you on studios or any other business end info since I’ve never worked in movies.
