what is a good price for a song to be used in a movie?
Question by booksmor2004: what is a good price for a song to be used in a movie?
I am the manager of a young woman who has written a song that Paramount pictures wants to use. So being new at this possition i need some assistance at making this deal right for her, What i need to know is what is the appropiat amount to ask for a song that is backed by a congressman, liked by the President of the United States of America and is also being considered by Paramount Pictures to use in a movie that is in the making. I want to do a good job for his person and give her a foot hold in the music world which would make her dreams come true. Please help with this i don’t want to mess her up.

I suggest you to contact Now Clear This!
They are music consultants and if you want to use a song in your film you contact them and they clear all the rights with the record label so you can use the song in your film. This is a major company dealing with major Hollywood Producers and major Record Labels.
I suggest you to hire them.
I also suggest you to get your artist signed by a major record label BEFORE you make any deals with MTV (In case you don’t know Paramount is MTV, so it would be in your best interest to make them very very happy)
I suggest you also NOT TO ASK FOR ANY MONEY from MTV. It would be a lot better for your artist if he or she can be paid by other means like his or her video played on MTV, a live performance, at the very least a NEWS mention. Those kinds of publicity are priceless.
If your artist is signed by a major record label before you make a deal with Paramount at the end of the credits your artist would be credited like this:
“The name of the Song”
Written by You
Performed by You
You Appears courtesy of EMI Records.
Also your artist could be included in the CD (Soundtrack) if there is one.
