I’d like to make a short music video (not professional, just for fun) with captions. What is a good editing software to purchase that is not too expensive?

I know there is a good, free program (most are trials, but you can find a few websites that provide the free version) called Sony Vegas, which is an advanced version of Windows Movie Maker. I have used it for quite a while and do think that even if you were heading towards making something more professional, it could be done with this program if you have good editing skills. You can import your video file onto the program and add many effects, cut the video, add MP3 files to it and many more effects. It’s quite easy once you understand how the program functions.
