What is the best movie-making software?

Question by edeta385: What is the best movie-making software?
I need to make movies/slideshows that combine digital picures and video clips together for a presentation. I’ve used Windows Movie Maker in the past, but I was hoping to find something out there that has a more professional look with graphics and stuff.

Please let me know – this would be a great help! I’m not looking for the super-expensive, professional programs. I’d like to know what’s got the best features for the best price.
