What is the best software for editing videos?

Question by adyhottie: What is the best software for editing videos?
I would like to edit videos, but i don’t seem to have an
idea which software or program is the best. I have Windows Movie Maker but whenever i tried to import videos, like 700mb size, its gonna take forever to import but when i transfer smaller
size videos, its fast..
I want to make a music video out of the movies i got like
the ones i saw in youtube..

What can you recommend?
these are the things i want:

1.) easy to use since it’s gonna be my first time to edit.

2.) when importing videos, i want it to be fast not
like in Windows movie maker it would take hours
just to import the video in the program.

3.) i want a free software, so don’t tell me
to buy.. i just want a free one..

4.) I would really appreciate it if you

I prefer windows movie maker. But you are right, it can be a pain for large files. I would like to know the answer too.
