Going to school for something else all together and just wander into film.

But seriously, there are some great advantages to film school, in as much as you learn the basics and rules, and in some cases can make pretty decent contacts that can help with your future career.

However if you’re lucky you can make a good film on your own and be recognized for it and make it that way. It seems like it’s more of a gamble, but it’s not like I’m a director.

I chose the “go to art college” route. I’ll let you know in a few years.
