Question by i<3makeup.: What is the economic effect of pirated movies for the movie industry?
Well… How bad is it? Can’t they live without that money? Or does pirating movies, or downloading pirated movies make a drastic fall in the companies profits?

any form of entertainment media that is pirated has an effect not only on that industry but on the entire economy. here is basic example of a films family tree of contributors…
writer, director, producer, actors, techs, artists, caterers, janitors, carpentors, programmers, stylists, engineers, translators, transporters, hosts, mill workers, refiners, retailers, security, cinema workers…
take this list and multiply it by a factor of ten.
then, consider all the revenue, proceeds, charity, and taxes lost.
take that number and multiply it by a factor of 100.
it is a ripple effect – like slamming on your breaks in rush hour traffic. the effect is felt all the way down the line.
Imagine if the movie Titanic – 1997 was premiered for one day and than downloaded for free on everyones V-Pod or computer…
think of the loss.
that is just one movie…factor in every movie ever made, being made or made in the future plus music and software titles…
get the picture?
