I’m thinking about making a movie. Ultimately if i do i would like to enter it into film festivals. My question is….does one have to have to consider buying a super expensive, deluxe camera when one is thinking about entering “film festivals”. I mean, is there a such thing as people who have owned cameras that only costed a mere 3 to 4 hundred dollars…..but those people took those cameras and made “film festival caliber” productions? What kind of quality are these judges looking for at these amateur film competitions?

Something 1080p with image stabilization… You can probably get an entry HD camcorder, but I wouldn’t recommend it for something like entering it into a festival. Plus, you’re probably going to want a tripod or something of that nature. Considering the facts, you’re probably going to want to spend anywhere between 500-1200 dollars. Just remember, you get what you pay for.
