What PC is recommended for a gamer and video editor?
Question by Vinny :]: What PC is recommended for a gamer and video editor?
I am a bit of a gamer and a professional video editor (I usually do 3D text for companies, occasional local TV broadcasts edits, and sometimes I take on partnership jobs for minor movies that are very low-budget. In addition, I also have a youtube partnership, of which I make tutorials on Ae, cinema 4d, and basic Sony Vegas tutorials.) I am like those gamers on youtube who create montages, albeit one who pays for his software 😉
Anyways, for the summer, I usually go to a beach house for quite a long time, and I’ve been thinking about getting a new computer there. (I know quite a lot about computers; it was a mandatory college course for my digital video editing career. But when it comes to choosing computers, I am at a loss, as I am always afraid to get ripped off on my so-called deal. My at-home computer is a perfect $ 4000+ machine, but it is impossible to move, as I took the liberty of stripping the tower, and adding ports and wires all over the place to make room for extra memory, externals, and graphixs. All of this is cooled by a decent cooling unit, in my desperate attempt to simulate a professional movie studio. Anyways, I believe it would take more work and money to move that computer than it would take to just simply buy a new one at a price range from 400 dollars to 650.
What would you recommend?

For a fairly customizable rig with a controllable price, dell.com and hp.com are your best bets. They each offer a selection of a range of computers with widely customizable parts. You likely know already, but for video editing, you’d need a powerful multicore cpu and a good videocard. With that in mind, it might be tough to stay to $ 400-600, but again, you have a lot of control over both price and quality on those websites. I don’t know about dell, but I do know that hp.com often offers somewhat spontaneous sales online. Desktops, of course, will get you the best bang for your buck.
