What should be my percentage and is he my producer?
Question by ashan_t: What should be my percentage and is he my producer?
I wrote a very good script and I am about to shoot the movie as the director and the owner of the production. Now I have someone whom I wanted to help me put things together like preparing the contracts, creating the budgets and has connections like distributing, editing and all that. The only thing there is that we are both contributing the money for the budget equally, say we bring 50-50.
Now I would like to know what this person should be called and after the movie is sold, what percentage should we share among ourselves because I am the story writter, the director, the script writter.
Secondly he was saying that after the capital that was used for the budget.
He is saying that after we have subtracted the capital used for the budget out of the final income, then the actors will be paid according to the percentage and then among the both of us, he will take 30 percent, while I take 30 as the director, and 4 percent for the story and script.
What do you guys think about this and I need honest answers and explanantions please.

I always thought that producers paid for production. Therefore if you are both paying equally you are equally producers. Since you also direct and write the script you should be getting a share for producing, directing, and writing.
