Well I’m glad you are making a movie. It will be a good time. To answer your question, it depends on what your budget is. Now because you said youtube and myspace video, I am going to assume that you will be shooting a low low low budget film. Most likely with just about none at all. So with that in mind, how much are you willing to spend? If you are looking to spend about $ 4500, then a nice SD camera is Sony’s DCR-VX2100 or Sony’s DSR-PD150. Also Cannon XL and Cannon XL2 cameras are also very nice. With cannons, the lens are switchable, with it a nice feature for more professional shoots. As far as cameras that are lower priced then what was listed I am not too sure about. I have been keeping up with the professional camera market. Now a cheap camera I used to make films on ages back were the Sony Handycam’s. I used Digital 8 at the time (It was back when miniDV wasn’t popular.) You can find similar cameras at Best Buy in the range of $ 400 – $ 900. They offer DVD cameras and in my opinion I wouldn’t get it. I would stick to a physical tape. If you have any further questions on cameras or on the film making process in general e-mail me and I would be happy to help out. pcchristl@yahoo.com. Hope things go well.
