What’s The Best Camcorder I Can Buy For Making Bodyboarding Movies?

Question by Danny B: What’s The Best Camcorder I Can Buy For Making Bodyboarding Movies?
Hi everyone
I want to buy a camcorder to make bodyboarding films and I’m stuck of which one to get.
I don’t know much about camcorders and I don’t know which recording format is the best for what I want it for. I mean will a tape based camcorder get all jolted by a wave crashing down on it and do I need to be looking more at flash based camcorders.
I want the best quality possible as I want to put my movies on DVDs to watch them on TV.
However I don’t want to spend more than around £500 on the camcorder and it needs to be compatible with a waterproof case.

Please help me thanks.

Tape and flash camcorders do not have the vibration/drop sensor problems associated with hard drive based camcorders.

“Best quality possible” = miniDV tape because the DV (or HDV format if you go there) compresses the digital video stream a lot less than the highly compressed MPEG2 video captured by consumer flash (and hard drive) camcorders (one of the many reasons the pros continue to use DV format and miniDV tape).
