Magix Movie Edit Pro 11
Ulead DVD Movie Factory 6 PC
Ulead Video Studio 10 PC
Pinnacle Studio Plus V9 PC
Sony Vegas Movie Studio + DVD 6 Platinum Edition PC ?

I’m looking for a software to buy (good quality with an affordable price) and with it to be able to participate in short movie contests, producing professional quality videos.
Until now, I’ve been using the Windows Movie Maker 2.1 but I’ve been told some other software’s offer better quality and more effects and options to work with. What do you think?

You will probably get a mix of answers here, but I encourage you to try them all. They have a free fully functional trial, but I do like Ulead. At least I know Ulead, Sony Vegas and Adobe Premiere Elements have a free trial. I see you didn’t mention the Adobe one, but it is also good.
