I have the option to buy two laptops and I nerd one today.. The first is a slightly used HP dv 7 for $ 350 and the next is a brand new in box Dell for $ 500

I got to say, the Dell deal is really good. May I ask where you got the Dell deal from? lol
The HP deal is also pretty good except that it’s been used. It’s up to you, but I’d get the Dell because I haven’t seen any Dell laptop with those specifications go for 500. Also, all the main components in the Dell are better than the HP. The i5 processor in the Dell beats the AMD dual core in the HP.
Another aspect to take into consideration is screen size. The HP is a 17 inch while the Dell is a 15 inch. Some people like a larger screen while others think a 17 inch is too large. That depends on what you’re going to do with the laptop. If you’re going to carry it around a lot, defintitely the 15 inch.
