Which laptop would be better for me, Mac or PC laptop?

Question by ♥summer 2010♥: Which laptop would be better for me, Mac or PC laptop?
So I’m still I have a laptop but its kind of falling apart and I want to try to get a new laptop and maybe ask my parents for a new one in case my laptop will eventually stop working altogether.
Anyway my laptop is a Dell and is a few years old. The keyboard has key covers that fall off and they cover and the little button that keeps the cover on the T key and now the T key is a tiny silver button you have to push off. My other keys also always seem to fall off the keyboard. The built-in left mouse key is also really loose.
Another problem is that one of my USB ports isn’t working (I think my F or H drive) and when I try to plug a flash drive into it, the computer completely shuts down so I need to restart the computer. This causes me to lose the work I was working on for school.
The battery life is also not that good, in about a year the life went from 6 hours to 1 hour (is this normal?). Which is usually not a problem, except I like to watch movies on there during car trips and stuff. My computer doesn’t play games like The Sims anymore I think.
So excluding the exterior though, the computer is in good condition, but the problem I’m worried about is that my sister had this laptop and hers completely crashed and wouldn’t turn on. I’m just really worried this would happen to my laptop and this makes me think about getting a new laptop.
Anyway I’m just wondering which laptop would be better for me, a PC or a Mac? I have what I like and dislike about both.
I would really like a computer with really good battery life and will last at least 8 years maybe (to get me through high school and college) so I would like it to be durable. I’d also like one in a built-in-web-camera that comes with some photo editing tool for that. I also would like the computer to be good at playing games and good applications for schoolwork.Being able to be good for creative writing too, because that’s one thing I like, like an inexpensive tablet PC. I would also like the laptop to be durable enough for me to use it while in my lap or one of those laptop pillows.
What I like about Macs are the Photo Booth application and the web-cam and how they are sleek and durable. They also have the iChat application and they seem very organized Except installing the new software constantly add up and no one else in my family has Macs so I don’t know if that will be the most practical. They are also initially expensive.
What I like about PCs are that they are more widely used and seem more practical in a sense. My whole family has PCs and I like the Windows XP and the Mac OS X program seems hard and confusing. Programs are usually developed for PCs first and that when I go to college in a few years, they will probably be more popular and practical there. But PCs don’t seem to have the programs Macs would have.
So if you have any ideas on what would be a better laptop and any other help including tips regarding my current computer.
Thanks a billion 😀
Thank you everyone for your answers 🙂
I know this is late, I’m not going to college next fall, I’m just thinking because I also want to save up money for a laptop for college when I go in a few years.
Thanks 🙂
