Why would a yahoo answer account get suspended ?
Question by Stephen: Why would a yahoo answer account get suspended ?
on my other account, i answered a question about someone wanting software to transfer data from their ipod back to their computer. it took me about 2 minutes and i discovered a software and posted the link. they sent me an email saying i was in violation of their terms. i’m suspecting that someone saw my answer and reported it. i explained to them the situation and they said we’re sorry about that and acknowledged that i wasn’t in violation of their guidelines.
so a couple days ago, i get a notice about an account suspension because someone asked a question about being able to download movies from a site. my reply was, “no there’s not, however i know a site that’s free where you can watch them”. then i posted the link. i have no affiliation with the site what so ever, period.
i seen a top contributor on here, i’ve seen his answers on many of the same questions that i’ve answered. he asked a question about posting links in his answers too. apparently he got an email about how he had violated the terms too for posting a link. my question is this, why do they have a source spot on the bottom of the answer part if you can’t name your sources ?
i’ve felt like i have purpose again by simply answering common computer questions based on events that i’ve went through too. some of these questions are of situations that i’ve been there too. based on softwares that i’ve tried that have helped me, i suggest them to others too. thats’ the whole point is to answer and help others. before college, i knew nothing of freeware that could help you in your computer troubles. so i simply suggest them to others. i’m not doing any self promotion or promotion for the software. i’m not making any money off it, besides they’re free. i’m just spreading the good word based on what i know and what has helped me.
i have contested the suspension. so far, no email has been sent back to me in response. you know what’ s amazing, i’ve actually been rated a top answer about 10 maybe times this week. that’s suprised me a whole lot too. so people are liking my answers to their questions. i don’t see the problem with giving a link that will help the solution to their problem with a freeware.

They do get it wrong sometimes. I was reported and ‘fined’ 10 pts for telling somebody their question didn’t make any sense (it didn’t).
