Iron Builder results! Lino vs. V&A Steamworks
Welcome to Iron Builder Stadium where two heavy hitters of the Lego world went head to head in an epic battle of wits, trash talk…and some truly stunning Lego building! You know Lino M as the badboy car builder from rainy Seattle and V&A Steamworks is the cool as ice king of steampunk from sunny California. Both competitors had to make use of a whole slew of curvy white arches. Let’s see how they did, shall we?
Early in the challenge, V&A heats up the competition with an eerie little entry called Trick or Meat. Its a strong start but he was just whetting our appetites with this meaty little morsel!
Proving he’s no one-trick pony, V&A makes great use of the requisite mystery arches and a whole pantload of other parts with this stunning number called Night At The Victorian Museum. Chock full of advanced build techniques, this is one whale of an entry! Heh, I can’t believe how funny I am!
Crawling from the primordial ooze, V&A builds this eerie, yet delicate fantasy creature he simply calls Urchin. He says this creepy bugger was pulled directly from Lino’s Id and I can’t help but agree with him on that one.
Next on the V&A slab is this scary…um…were-rat…uh…chupacabra…monster thingy. V&A tells us its inspired by the video game SINISTAR. Whatever it is, it comes with one simple warning: Beware…I LIVE!
Halfway through the challenge V&A is off to a strong start and no one has heard a peep from Lino. Has he rolled over and accepted defeat? Skipped town? Hardly! From out of nowhere, he packs a hard wallop with this Lionfish Bounty Hunter’s starship complete with V&A as the bounty!
Lino wouldn’t be Lino unless he has built an automobile of some kind and this time he gathers all of his courage to tackle the elusive Mountain Pearl, a custom ’53 Ford F100 complete with swivel seats and a clear firewall so that its driver can enjoy the all chromed-out engine! It even has a little sibling.
By this point the trash talk was heating to a boil over at Iron Builder Stadium and V&A Steamworks retaliates and brings out the big guns! Literally, the big guns. He goes back to his steampunk roots with this Crown Royale Infinity Rifle that is chock full of not to be missed steamy tidbits, doodads, and doohickeys!
But it takes more than a big gun to take Lino down for he has brought the big guns of his own! Big guns as in big biceps and other…uh…um, yanno…big horsey parts with this Hoplite warrior centaur called Ajax The Great. A staggering 54 of the requisite white curved arches were used in the making of this epic mythical man-beast!
V&A proves he’s no slouch with the Lego bricks, nor in the kitchen when he takes the Iron Chef/ Iron Builder theme to heart with this trio of culinary delights. On the menu is a tasty Raspberry Jello Amuse Bouche, savory Shrimp Cocktail and succulent Grilled Lamb Chops. Bon Appetit!
For weeks, V&A Steamworks was taunting Lino and the rest of the Lego world with a paunchy little Cube Dude Lino and his undead zombie friends. There was a reason for it. It all became clear in the end in this hilarious not to be missed video where Lino was terminated and crushed to zombie pulp by a giant stomping sneaker!
Not to be outdone, Lino’s Alien Ambassador from that Mars Attacks movie made some unsettling threats of his own in some…um…crazy Martian moon language no one understood. Still through all the Ack-Ack-Acks you can pretty much sense the smack talk…and it wasn’t pretty!
Two heavy hitters went head to head in the Iron Builder battle and the Lego world was well entertained for it…but how did this all end? Who won? Silence on the set, please! (drum roll)…(hushed whispers)…(more drum roll)…(shut up, you!)…(longer drum roll)…
I can’t believe it! It looks like the undisputed king of Steampunk has loaded Lino into a car crusher and chomped down on his hopes and dreams! V&A Steamworks has won this edition of Iron Builder! Once again, the steam powered builder defends his title and reigns supreme at Iron Builder Arena! Both contenders have still decided to send each other trophies anyway and many…MANY brews will be shared between the two friends and rivals at BrickCon 2010!
And the crowd goes wild!

83% of the teams in this postseason have the look of a second-round loser or what you might find in a Nevada truck stop bathroom. Just how it’s always been. Just how the NFL wants it.

A Bar Where Everybody Knows Your Pole Dance
Heaven, David Byrne likes to sing, is a bar where the band plays your favorite song and everyone leaves the party at the same time . Mostly, though, “heaven is a place, a place where nothing, nothing ever happens,” which pretty much describes the usual scene at Ray Ruby’s Paradise Lounge.
