Best easy video editing software for the in-laws?

My father-in-law has decided he wants to put all of the family’s home movies onto DVD and make little “movies” for everyone. So I am looking for easy to use video editing software for him and would love to hear some opinions of what package to go with.

I think iMovie from Apple is great software that is free if you have an Apple computer. Also, most new Apple computers come with DVD burners and iDVD so you can put your movie onto DVD
